Swaps for the Weekend

So last weekend was Onstage Local at Telford, the bi-annual celebration hosted by Stampin' Up for their Demonstrators.  I discussed it in more detail on Monday's blog post, but today I wanted to share with you a video of one of the swaps I made for the event.

Swaps are a number of projects all of the same design that you hand to your fellow demonstrators and get a project back, generally card blanks or 3d items (however ever be aware of trying to get them all home again.

These were bookmarks I made using the brusho crystal colours.

I would also like to remind you that the Retiring List has been released, no doubt even after a few days the stocks are very much depleted.  If there is anything that you want - order it now, don't wait.

Don't be too concerned about the ink pads, 13 colours from the main colour families are retiring, as well as four from the 2016-18 In-Colour family.  There are 6 colours that are returning (they used to be In-Colours) and 10 brand new colours joining in.  So there will still be four colour families, but Basic Black, Whisper White and Very Vanilla have been separated into a group of their own. Here are the Retiring colours - I would grab them while you can!

Mixed Media Butterfly Card

I was due to attend team training a few weeks ago, however I came down with a stinking cold , and although I love crafting, I decided to stay in bed instead.  I had created my card front swaps for the event, so I thought I would show you how I made them.

It is great that Stampin' Up ae starting to build into their range a selection of tools and products that can create many different effects and work well with each other, and that is what I have tried to show you here.

Valentine's Part I

Well, it is almost time for Valentine's Day (about 1 week away).  This is probably the shortest card selling and card supplies selling window of the year! Its not something that is discussed before the middle to end of January and then you have about 2 or 3 weeks to get prepared and sell.

I have done a couple of projects for Valentine's, mainly because Stampin' Up have released an amazing set of Designer Series Papers, which I adore called Painted with Love.  I have used them for Valentine's, but also for other events in the year.

The problem with a Designer Series Paper that you love is having to cut it up and use it in away that shows it off, this card does that.  This card is all about the DSP and very little about the stamping!  What really sets it off is the coordinating cardstock pack that enables you to do a little matting and layering with ease.

I love the simplicity of the colours and patterns, flecked with that gold.  You may not be able to see, but the paper has a printed texture that makes you want to reach out and stroke it!

I have also used this paper as the background to a family picture taken at Christmas.  I didn't want a wintery themed scrapbook page as the emphasis was on all the grandchildren being with Granny rather than the time of year.  I also used some Brusho to create interest in the background (which is why the card is buckled - I am hoping that being in the Big Black Folder it will flatten over time).

Again, the gold just adds that bit of opulence to the layout.

Lastly, I added it to a page about an Afternoon Tea my husband and I recieved as a joint birthday present.  A romantic afternoon, but it was more because the colours in the cardstock pack and DSP set the photos off well.

Later in the week on Facebook, I will be highlighting some more male oriented valentine's cards.

Bird Banter

The next workshop on the 8th and 9th February focuses on the Bird Banter set and the Beautiful Peacock Sale-A-bration stamp set.  You will find lots of samples of both sets on pinterest as they are really quite a quirky couple of sets.

The Bird Banter has some cute, funny sayings, particularly useful if you are late for a birthday, or just need to find a funny greeting.

These are great images for colouring, whether using the Stampin' Blends, Markers or water colour pencils.

The Beautiful Peacock is a gorgeous set that can be so useful, the tail section can be used on its own as a flourish or corner piece.  This set works so well with embossing powders to really make a striking statement.

Sign up for Feb's classes closes on Friday 3rd, and remember if you order £45 of Stampin' goodies not only can you choose a free Sale-A-Bration product, but also get the class for FREE!.
