Altered Tin - Version 2!

Well, Stampin' Up! really spoilt us this season.  They gave us two tins to play with, the rectangle one which I showcased a few weeks ago and now a circular one (think of the old fashioned travel sweet tins with a window in the lid).  Both tins are a really good size to fill with goodies, and both are food safe so you can add homemade fudge or chocolates to them.

I have decided with both tins to make the decorative items, I may add some more ribbon so that they can be hung from a Christmas Tree.

I hope you enjoy the video and give it a thumbs up!

Bright and Merry Altered Tin

Have you made an altered tin?  This was a first for me and was not as scary as I thought it would be.  As usual, I didn't necessarily plan what I was doing but had a rough idea as to how I wanted it to look and feel.

I have created a YouTube video, as that is an easier medium to show how I put it together, however, I think it is important to just get out there and try your own take on an altered tin and see just how easy it is to do.

Measurements

The strips that wrap around the lid and bottom of the tin are 12 x 3/8" (30cms x 1cm) (top) and 12 x 1/2" (30cms x 1.3cm) (bottom).  They do not quite make it all the way around, therefore I added the sentiments to cover the gaps.  These are ad-hoc sizes, depending on the sentiments you want to use.

The rectangles of designer series paper (DSP) that go on the top, inside of the lid and the bottom of the tin are all 4"x 23/8" (10cm x 6.5cm).  The inside of the tin is slightly smaller, however, I just used my fingernails to push the DSP into all the edges and this worked fine.

Retiring Lists

Hello!

It has been a while, I must admit since I last wrote a post here.  However, its that time of year again when the Retiring List comes out for the 2019-20 Annual Catalogue and the Spring 2020 Mini Catalogue.

Check out the lists below, which you can download and sort through excel, but don't hang around if you want something - it will go.  Please be aware that In-Colour items that are retiring go very quickly.

Please note that the Stampin' Blends are not retiring, but being reconfigured for the new catalogue and will only be sold in packs of two from June 2nd 2020.

Ooooh metallic and Shimmery!

I have been having fun with the new Delicata Metallic Inks in the Autumn/Winter catalogue.  These inks are by Tsukineko, who produce the Versamark/Versafine range and they are highly pigmented and show up on all sorts of cardstock and products.

They are pigment ink, which means they are thicker and tend to give a more solid image than waterbased inks, but be aware that they may take a little longer to dry than our waterbased inks.

I create this wreath using the Gathered Leaves Dies.  As these particular leaf dies are cut and emboss dies, if you spritz them with water before die cutting the embossed details tend to stand out more.  I then used a dauber and inked with the metallic ink around the leaves to add extra shimmer and effect to the wreath.

I had lots of fun with this card.  I saw a video on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwIMy_oww1s) which detailed this watercolour technique.  I add a drop of two of coloured re-inker, added a little touch of Granite Gray re-inker and then added water and little bit of one of the metallic re-inkers to the colour and made a selection of coloured washes on the water-colour card.  I waited for it to dry before stamping the images from the Gather Together stamp set in Stazon Ink.  I then added coloured the images in a little with the Metallic Ink and a small brush.  I outlined each panel with the Black Stampin' Write Marker and cut them out to create the card.

I love the effect of the Metallic shimmer in the background and the added, intense metallic colour in the foreground

So Many Stars Bundle

The Autumn/Winter catalogue has been put for nearly a month now, and I have to say that one of my favourite products has to be the So many Stars bundle, mainly because of fo the Stitched Stars dies.  These are another set of versatile shaped dies, there is a set of layering dies and other decorative star-based dies, which add so much to your projects.

However, the first card I want to show you just uses the So Many Stars stamp set, which is a stunning Christmas themed stamp set.  As you would expect, it has several star stamps which can be cut using the Stitched Stars dies, however, it also has some snowflake stamps r shaped, so can also be die-cut it) and a really useful background stamp.

This card shows the versatility of the dies, in that you can pair them up with any stamp set to create a multitude of thank you, birthday and everyday cards.

Show me in the comments what cards you are making with the So Many Stars Bundle or the Stitched Stars dies.

Wrapped in Plaid card using Stampin' Up! products

It has been a while since I last posted! My apologies, however in my defence I had three rather energetic children home.  However, they have all settled back into a routine now – my eldest has started Yr7 and my youngest has started Reception so it is all go at the moment.

I am aiming to blog once a fortnight, and post a video to my Youtube channel on alternate weeks.  Let me know if there is anything you would like me to show or do a tutorial on.

The Autumn/Winter catalogue launched a few weeks ago and it has been really busy.  The Christmas Countdown Advert Box Kit has been very popular, and so has the Stitched Star Dies.  Let me know if the comments what your favourite item in the catalogue is.

This week I want to show you a project using the wrapped in Plaid Suite.  I don't know if you have noticed this, but Stampin' Up! have now released one order number for a whole suite, therefore if you want everything in one suite of products you only need to put the one number in.  You will still get the bundle discount if that is included in the suite.

With this card, I cut the front out with the Stitched Rectangular dies and added a piece of window sheet to keep it strong and layered the piece of DSP behind.  The little wooden slice is part of the Come to Gather Suite, and very easy to stamp on.
