Graceful Glass

I love colouring, but sometimes I want colour without the hours it takes to meticulously colour in an image.  This video shows a quick way to add colour to the vellum without spending hours.

This uses the watercolour pencils to add a rainbow effect on card behind the vellum. I hope you enjoy the video.

Don't forget about the DSP sale starting on the 1st July and lasting all month, sign up to my papershare by the 2nd July to enjoy a 1/4 share of all the DSPS at a discounted price.

July Special Offers!

I just wanted to write a quick blog explaining another July Special Offer - and this is a good one!

If you have thought about joining Stampin' Up or were previously a demonstrator but left, then July is a perfect month for you to join or rejoin.

The start kit costs £99, for which you can choose £130 of Stampin' goodies, plus you will get £40 of business supplies (order forms, leaflets etc).

When you join you will join a fantastic community of crafters that support each other, whether they are your local team mates or international friends across social media (I am currently part of a training programme ran by a demonstrator in Australia and has members from all the Stampin' Up world).  You will be invited to local, national and even international events.

You will also get a minimum 20% discount on all orders (whether it is for you or for friends - i.e. customers), there is no distinction between signing up for your own crafty discount or because you want to  build a business - the same opportunities are open to everyone, it just depends on your own goals.

Here are a few examples of how you could build your starter kit, depending on what you are looking for from Stampin' Up.

To really add the value to your Starter Kit, Stampin' Up are adding 10 FREE ink pads worth £63 through-out July.  You need to pick one of the 4 colour families or the 2017-19 and 2018-20 In-Colour families.

10 free ink pads throughout July when you purchase the Starter Kit.  Email me at fispapercraft@hotmail.co.uk for more information.

Casing the Catalogue

I love Stampin' Up's catalogues for many reasons, the glossy feel, the little hints and tips they add in and - of course - all the gorgeous products they list.

One of the main reasons is that it is full of inspiration and beautiful projects, I use this as the basis for some of my projects - I am sure I am not the only one who has the occasional dry spell when it comes to ideas!

Stampin' Up have capitalised on the 'idea book' by grouping under one item number the products you need to re-create some of the projects in the catalogue.  Look for the 'You can Make It' sections in the catalogue, for example, if you look on page 75 it lists all the products you need and the cost under one item number to make the Big Wishes cards.

Here in this video I use the Build a Bike project on P28 for inspiration:

(The other 'You can Make it' sections are on these pages: 33, 75, 123, 149, 194, 205.  If you don't have a catalogue or a demonstrator and are based in the UK, contact me and I can send one out to you).

Painted Glass - part 1

This month, my focus in classes has been the Painted Glass Bundle.  This is a stamp and die set that replicate the look of stained glass, it is a delicate set that really enables you to bring your colouring skills to the fore.  I have used it last weeks Simply Fun Class and it will be used again in Sunday's Create a Little More class.

I love the fact that you can colour with so many different mediums with it.  The Graceful Glass Vellum pack that is a part of the suite allows you to colour with the Watercolour Pencils, Stampin' Markers, Stampin' Blends, or Brusho's.  I did a post on 21st May that showed the different effects you will get using these methods.

Here I want to show you a different way of using the Brusho on the vellum (I painted with a paint brush in the post above).  Here we have used a couple of colours sprinkled on the back and spritzed with water.  The vellum will curl up when wet, but I just gently tapped dry with a piece of kitchen roll.  You can then use a heat tool to dry, or leave to dry naturally and then place under a book or something heavy over night to flatten.

Here, we have used the blends to colour in some aspects of the vellum.  I always colour in from the back (you can tell as one side has a raised embossed feel), I think it hides any minor slips better - but the choice is up to you.  The blends work well on the vellum, and you can create shading as well, just wait for each layer to dry first.  Having colour on the vellum, helps with adhering it to the cardstock as you can hide the glue.

Finally, I had a play with the new Embossing Mats for the Bigshot.  These mats allow you to emboss cardstock using your dies.  These are going to be so useful for extending the possibilities of your dies.  It is also fairly addictive, so far everytime I get a die to cut - I am trying the embossing with it!

If you can't get to my classes always check out Fi's Paperbox as an alternative.
